Linda Giuca, food editor of the Hartford Courant and I were chatting and — as I now do with all foodies — I asked if she had a product to recommend for Bite of the Best. She recommended Pepperidge Farm® Whole Grain Cinnamon Raisin Swirl Bread that is made with 100% Whole Wheat flour; it has only 100 calories per slice, 2 grams fiber and 1.5 grams total fat. I have purchased this product and like it very much. However, your readers should know that it is not 100% whole wheat, as stated. Read the label and you will see that it also contains regular wheat flour (translated: white flour). In addition, it contains other ingredients that are not wonderful: high-fructose corn syrup, for one. I like the product but it could be better — viz., more fiber, perhaps honey instead of corn syrup, and 100% whole wheat instead of a mix. Since it’s the only cinnamon bread out there with any whole grains in it, I bought it and am enjoying it occasionally.
Judy, I’m looking at the product right now. The first ingredient (which is the most abundant — primary — ingredient) is whole wheat flour. Yes, it does contain HFC (high fructose corn syrup) but one slice also contains 3 grams fiber. That’s pretty good for a bread.
I’ll be sure to let the folks at Pepperidge Farm know about your good suggestion (using honey instead of HFC) — and see whether they’d also like to post a comment. Thanks again for yours.
I have tried this and I really like it, but I love raisin bread and do feel like this is a healthier version.
As a self-confessed cinnamon addict, I am always happy to find something with cinnamon in it and/or something I can sprinkle my favorite Vietnamese cinnamon (from penzeys) on. I was thrilled to find this whole wheat version for my cinnamon toast.
I often make toast at work and everyone is magically drawn to sweet smell of cinnamon wafting from the kitchen.
BTW- cinnamon has been shown to have health benefits- particularly for the blood.

I love the pepperidge farm whole grain cinnamon and raisins bread.I was told that the whole wheat is really white flour; which I try to stay away from,can you tell me if this is true because I need to find a bread without white flour and I love this bread,please pepperidge make your delicious bread tasty and healthy.

I love your whole grain cinamon and raisin bread, but it is so hard to find. Most the time Kroger and Walmart are out of this. Where in Columbus Ohio can I find it all the time. It is the very best.

I have had this bread and it is very good. However,I agree with Judy above. I would like to see honey used instead of high fructose corn syrup. I am willing to pay the increased cost.
I find it very hard to fine the Whole Grain Raisin Cinnamon. Most big chain stores carry Swirl Raisin Cinnamon, but not the Whole Grain. I love the Whole Wheat, but find it very hard to find in any store.
The last time I had to buy Swirl Raisin Cinnamon because they did not have the Whole Wheat.
This is better than a candy bar and better for you.
I suggest you ask the store manager to stock it for you. Seriously, they do listen and try to accommodate their customer’s requests.

These stores may carry it , but believe me they are mostly out of it. The have it , but not the WoleGrain version. Why not make only Whole Grain of this delicious bread.
You don’t have to buy the Pepperidge Farm brand (which is good). Great Harvest Bread on Henderson Road in Columbus has Cinnamon Raisin Walnut Bread Yummier.
I can’t find PepperRidge Farm Whole Grain swirl bread either. Do any stores in Paso Robles, Templeton or Atascadero, CA carry it? I’ve asked at several and although they carry other PF products, no whole grain.
Everyone in our family loves your goldfish crackers in the home made snickysnack mix we eat on the beach in the summer…..but especially my brother and his grandsons, who are also big deer hunters, and I suggest you make a cheese cracker shaped like a little deer…or reindeer to sell through the hunting and holiday season!

I used to enjoy Pepperidge Farm Whole Grain Cinnamon Swirl Bread, but it appears that particular variety has been discontinued. I resigned myself to purchasing the Whole Grain Cinnamon Raisin Swirl as an acceptable substitute. On my last trip to the supermarket it appears as though Pepperidge Farm has changed the Whole Grain to Whole Wheat, and the nutritional content, at least with respect to the fiber, has taken a hit. The new product appears to have two grams of fiber per slice as oppsed to the Whole Grain variety which had three. Not having purchased the product, I can’t recall if there were other nutrtional compromises, but if that’s the case, I will not be purchasing the product any longer.
I am so disappointed that I cannot find the Pepperidge Farm Whole Grain Cinnamon Raisin Bread in my area of Rockville, MD. I don’t care for the Whole Wheat version even though the calories are less. I’ve checked Safeway and Giant and was told that they do not carry this bread anymore.

I realize that the newer packaging for whole wheat is the same product as the whole grain, however, the thicker slices tasted so much better when toasted. Now we must eat three slices to equal two and they don’t taste as good. Thicker breat toasts better than thin because thicker slices stay moist in the middle vs. thinner toasted slices are cruncy all the way through.
I actually found the bread while doing online supermarket shopping.
It’s worth it to me to pay the shipping and handling to get the hard-to-find healthier stuff, but shop around for the shipping fees and buy enough to make it worth it.
I would wish that if you need to combine non-whole grain flour with the whole grain flour that you would play with a recipe that uses brown rice flour or oat flour. And though I’m no fan of corn syrup, well folks, look at the news. Honey’s getting harder to buy. You’d be asking for more than you realize in asking food producers to make a mass switch to honey.

I also LOVE the Whole Wheat Cinnamon Swirl Bread. It is very moist for a whole wheat bread. I agree with others that the thicker slices were better. I am having trouble getting this bread. My local Shoprite carries it every so often, but they don’t keep it stocked on a regular basis. I did ask them to stock it, but they told me “they only stock what they can get the best deals on.” So, I guess it doesn’t really matter what the customer wants! When they do have it, they only put out a limited amount of loaves. I wish everyone would try it – it is really great and so much better for you than the white swirl bread. Maybe if it becomes popular, they will stock it more. I live in Mullica Hill, NJ Is there any other stores where I can find this delicious bread?? Thanks!
