In celebration of Yale University’s upcoming Presidential Inauguration Ceremony on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, New Haven restaurants are offering special dining deals throughout the weekend. As the city honors Yale’s 23rd president, Peter Salovey, patrons can whet their palates with a variety of mouth-watering options from 18 of New Haven’s most sought-after restaurants.

Participating restaurants will offer several different $23 dining options. These include a prix fixe lunch or dinner menu, a sampling of the restaurant’s favorite culinary offerings, or a bottle of wine.

For example, Heirloom Restaurant will offer a specialty cocktail called “23.” Caseus Fromagerie & Bistro and Ordinary will offer a $23 cheese and charcuterie platter with olives, pickled vegetables, mustard, jam, breads and nuts.  Miya’s Sushi will offer the “President Salovey’s Sushi Especial” that includes a 10-piece sushi sampler of creations made of organic fruits and vegetables and locally caught sustainable seafood. In honor of the new president, this dish will feature recipes that are built on traditional elements, but are inspired by a vision of a better future.

Additional participating restaurants include: 116 Crown (bar, kitchen & cellar), Bentara (spicy Malaysian), Briq (table-style dining), Ibiza (creative Spanish), John Davenport’s (contemporary American), Kitchen Zinc (artisan pizza & bar), L’Orcio (contemporary Italian), Oaxaca Kitchen (contemporary Mexican), Pacifico (nuevo Latino), ROIA (French and Italian), Thali (regional Indian), Thali Too (regional Indian), Union League Café (Parisian style brasserie) and Zinc (modern American).
