Do You Want S’more? Jeez, who doesn’t want S’more? What a truly delectable, delicious delight! The only unfortunate part about this amazing desert is that it has become so wrapped up with campfires, we forget that we can enjoy S’mores at almost any time of the year. So, it’s time for some S’more appreciation!

Well, I thought I was one my own with this one until I did some research. I was only kinda shocked to find that there is actually an official day for such appreciation (I say ‘kinda’ only because everything has its own day nowadays). National S’mores Day took place on August 10th, 2010. So, I guess, get started counting down ’til next year!National Smore Day

What I found most interesting were the number of amazing restaurants that participated in the promotion of the S’more. So, despite S’more Day 2010 passing into the annals of history, I am throwing some respect to the S’more, and to the fine establishments that honored it. We look forward to next August 10th’s creations!

Celebrity Chef Kerry Simon is known for transforming classic childhood sweets into delicious desserts at his many restaurants.  LA’s menu featured his signature S’mores dish ($10), made up of graham cracker tuile, vanilla ice cream, and homemade toasted marshmallow.

This classic treat dates all the way back to 1927, when the recipe for s’mores was first published in “Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts.”  It’s come a long way since then, and this is just a sample! Do you have any great S’more recipes?
