Bonnie: Unsolicited foods arrive so often at our home — my office — that I know almost all our delivery men by name and keep a basket of treats to reward them for carrying the heavy packages up my steps.

Unpacking, storing the contents and breaking down these boxes can often be daunting; it’s the least favorite part of my job. But inside I sometimes uncover jewels like Dr. Kracker organic, all-natural flatbreads. They’re yeast-risen then baked crisp. And they’re delicious, with my favorite being Klassic 3 Seed flatbread.

There’s almost nothing in these but whole grains, seeds, yeast and salt, making them a good source of fiber, omega-3 fatty acids and whole grains. In other words, a good-for-you cracker.

Nibble or serve them as I do, plain or topped with extra sharp vintage cheddar, chèvre or hummus. Just don’t tell my delivery folks about these, as this is one morsel of which they won’t be offered samples from my goodie basket. That’s because there will be none left.

Bryan: I got my package of Dr. Kracker Klassic 3 Seed flatbreads and snackers (the bite size versions) only a few days ago and I’ve already found more uses for these than you might imagine. This is a very hearty and very crunchy snack. Not only are they tasty, but a single 3×5 whole wheat flatbread amazingly supplies 12 percent of your daily dietary fiber, a great excuse to break out the brie. Pile some on, cover with a juicy slice of fresh tomato and heat in the toaster oven for a delicious midday snack or appetizer. I’ve also really enjoyed spreading the cracker with a smear of mustard, then topping that with folding two pieces of deli turkey and some shaved cheddar cheese. The flatbread is a hard, but deliciously different, base for this open-faced sandwich.

These flatbreads are truly able to serve the same purpose as any cracker, but will go far beyond to act as backdrop for salads, sandwiches and more. The Klassic 3 Seed variety is a great source of whole grain and a very healthy addition to any diet; my Triscuits may have been replaced.

Eric: First thought that came to mind: “Damn good crackers.” These energy-packed bites are a combination of an amazing variety of flavors, something completely unexpected from the standard cracker. Growing up, I was always a Ritz cracker fan because of its simplicity — just as with most of the foods I enjoy. As the old saying goes, “too many cooks spoil the broth,” just like the way too many ingredients can overly complicate flavor.

I was skeptical when opening the first pack of Dr. Krackers because I honestly thought that it was an attempt to overcomplicate one of the simplest food items I know. Upon tasting the first cracker I knew why they referred to company founder Klaus Karg as a “doctor”; he knew what he was doing in the cracker department. Each cracker has an overwhelming portion of seeds that galvanize into a powerful taste. This isn’t the everyday cracker; it’s more of a small meal in cracker form. And just like any meal, it doesn’t hurt to add some cheese and wine.

I first tried using the "comment" button, but it didn't work. I love the Dr. Kracker flatbreads. They don't need anything to go with them, i.e., cheese or spread — but they are pricey. I guess you get what you pay for with these, however. I've tried other Dr. Kracker products and wasn't impressed… but I love the 3 Seed flatbreads.
