COOL – Country of Origin Labeling

April 9, 2009

Ever wonder where the food in the supermarket cases came from? It’s gotten simpler to find out. COOL, a government Country of Origin Labeling legislation, requires country-of-origin labeling on many fresh foods, including cuts of meat, poultry, lamb and pork, fruits and vegetables, and some nuts. Meaning now you’ll know whether the food you’re buying was imported or was grown/raised in the US. COOL labeling is not required on processed foods.
